Due to our habitat spanning the ocean's deeper strata, we’re a rare sight to be seen. We live between the epipelagic and mesopelagic ocean layers from 250 meters (660 feet) to 1,000 meters (3,300 feet) deep. You’ll rarely see us on the surface.
