Out and About with Roger Martin

Show Details

Witness an extraordinary art exhibition based on the myth of Daphne, a nymph who asked to be transformed into a laurel tree to escape the unwanted advances of the Greek god Apollo. On display at the Sturt Haaga Gallery at Descanso Gardens, “Daphne’s Wardrobe” draws from the story by featuring paintings depicting the female figure fused with nature, sculpture that captures the metamorphosis of Daphne’s transformation, clothing made from floral materials and shrubbery, and collectively the artworks reflect a visually stunning and thought-provoking spiritual experience! Then celebrate Easter with one of Los Angeles’ most beloved traditions, “The Blessing of the Animals.” First started in 1930, the custom dates back many centuries when livestock was blessed to keep the herds healthy and productive and the tradition continues today as participants show up with a menagerie of pets including cats, dogs, birds, reptiles and even a cow!
